Find the file—and the answer inside it
Textrace is a local Windows search tool for file names, document contents, and web history you explicitly enable.
One search, from names to full text
Build a local index, then search by words, phrases, type, path, or date and preview matching text beside the results.
Unified search
Search file names, document contents, and explicitly enabled web history from one box.
Full-text document index
Index text, PDF, Office, OpenDocument, e-books, e-mail, and web archives.
Snippets and preview
See hit snippets and preview text with line numbers, highlights, and next-match navigation.
Optional web history
Enable browsers individually; only addresses, titles, and visit times are copied into encrypted local storage.
Windows OCR
When enabled, use installed Windows OCR language packs for scanned PDFs and optional images.
Local privacy
Indexes, extracted text, and history copies stay on this PC and are not sent over the network.
Your search data stays on your PC
Web history is opt-in and encrypted for the Windows account. Textrace does not send indexes or searches over the network.

No. Download and run the single 64-bit Textrace.exe file.

Does this download include RapidOCR?
No. This download is the single Textrace.exe file and can use Windows OCR. RapidOCR is an optional engine requiring separate components.
Are indexes uploaded?
No. File indexes, extracted text, and history copies remain on this PC.
